about me
Having started my career as an editorial assistant in a B2B publishing house I worked hard to become the editor of two international food science magazines, four directories and an assistant conference and exhibition organiser. After several years I left to specialise as a freelance sub editor, proofreader, and directory publisher.
A slight change of career came when I bought my first home. I renovated it, moved, bought another one and did the same. Then, over several years I bought and renovated flats and let them out while working in administration for several organisations.
I am an excellent sub editor, overseeing the content, accuracy, layout and design of online and print articles, making sure that they are in keeping with house style. I write excellent headlines, standfirsts, and captions, and check copy to ensure it is accurate, adheres to copyright laws, and is not libellous.
I am passionate about learning new technologies and am constantly updating my skills. I am proficient in publishing software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, QuarkExpress, and WordPress and administration software such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. I can input and manipulate data in Excel and databases such as OHMS, LOCATA Pro, IMPULSE, and ECS and raise Purchase Orders and pay invoices in CIVICA e-Returns.
I am a keen surfer, triathlete, sailor, and play softball, tennis and touch rugby for several local teams.
As a sub editor, editor, publisher, conference and exhibition organiser, administrator and property developer I have a host of skills which can be applied to many different subject matters
